Twins, Leslie (left) and Wesley Kettenring. The twins were born in Cawker City in 1897 and grew up in Erving Township, Jewell County. Wesley served in the U.S. Navy and Leslie in the U.S. Army during WWI with both surviving the war. Leslie was killed on Dec. 1, 1919, when a shell he had brought back from France exploded in his hand. He is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, southwestern Jewell County.
