Photos from: Smoke attracts attention

Lorraine Smith

Members of the Superior Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on West Eighth Street in Superior early last Wednesday morning during the "school rush hour." Black smoke pouring out from under the pickup hood could be seen from the hill south of the Republican River and locals commuting to work in Superior wondered if the school was on fire. The building pictured in the foreground is the Superior Elementary School.
