Daren Blackstone, the incumbent Nuckolls County Commissioner representing District 11, has made the decision not to run for a second term. The district is comprised of Superior’s Beaver 2 precinct as well as southeast Nuckolls County including Elk Township.

Interested candidates can file for the seat in the upcoming May 12 primary election at the county clerk’s office at the county courthouse in Nelson.

The filing deadline for the incumbent is Feb. 18. All other interested candidates from the Republican and Democratic parties have until Monday, March 2, to file. Independent candidates may also file.

If there were to be only one independent candidate, they would automatically advance to the November general election. Should there be two or more, voters would make the choice.
