How to use Netflix Auto Play Preview

February 13, 2020

For all the Netflix subscribers who’ve been frustrated with the Auto-Play Preview feature - you know the one that starts playing whatever show you’ve got high lighted? - maybe you just want to read the summary or, perhaps something has come up that’s taken your attention away and, you’d rather not have some random preview playing? Netflix has finally given in and now offers users the ability to turn the previews off. The catch is that you cannot simply adjust the setting in the app from smart devices. Instead, Netflix has categorized the setting as "specific to a profile."

This global account status means changing this setting will take effect on all your devices. So in order for you to turn the feature off, you’ll need to log into your Netflix account from a computer web browser.

At the top right you will see your account name. Hover over it with your mouse and select "Account" from the drop-down menu.

In the "My Profile" subsection you will see "Playback Settings.” Select that.

The second option down is "Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices." Uncheck the box and click the save button at the bottom of the page. That’s it! No more annoying previews.
