Four Ways from Northbranch

February 20, 2020

We offer sympathy to Robin Rose whose father, Norman Krebs, died Thursday at the hospital in Hastings.

Because of the cancellation of the Rock Hills basketball game Friday, Sam and Alyce Gillett headed early to Valley Center. But they didn’t miss out on a ball game. Saturday they watched Cade L’Ecuyer play basketball and then watched his sister, Makayla, play a game. They had gone to help Cade celebrate his 7th birthday. Cade chose where he wanted to eat and he was joined by his parents, Scot and Victoria and sisters, Makayla and Laynee.

Highlanders Club met Thursday afternoon in Red Cloud at the home of Jeri Shute. Members present were Patty Snow, Loreen Bird, Ione Shipley, Irma Fogo, Judy McCartney and Alyce Gillett. They had an afternoon of visiting.

Union Chapel Bible Study met Thursday evening at the home of Kim Davis. Teresa Shipley had the lesson, Alyce Gillett had devotions and Kim Gillett had prayer time. Also present were Jean Davis and Beth Walker. The Lenten calendars prepared by Kim Gillett were handed out.

Glenn and Sue Leppert of Haviland were weekend visitors at the home of their daughter, Emily, and Pastor Jon and family.

Jean Davis has not felt well lately, but a trip to the doctor put her into a bit better eating habit so she is feeling much better and was able to attend church on Sunday with Alan and Kim Davis at the Methodist Church in Red Cloud. Blake and Ana's daughters, Selene and Audrey, were in a group of children that sang a special number. Following church, the families were dinner guests at the home of Alan and Kim.

Thanks to a friend, Don Sloane in Superior for helping me figure out the logistics of the directions for operating the car wash on Saturday. Duh.

Pastor Jon Harkness welcomed each one to the Sunday morning worship service at Northbranch Friends Church, followed by giving announcements and noting special prayer needs. Special prayers were offered for these numerous concerns. Musicians were Erma Dillon and Colleen Jeffery. Serving as ushers were Brad Jeffery and Tim Warner. Pastor Jon accompanied himself, singing “Spring is Coming.” This song was written by someone who had tragically lost a little daughter that was accidentally run over by her older brother.

I Corinthians 13 was the scripture basis for the sermon, “Love is..........”. In our culture today is seems that candy is the symbol of love. This chapter in Corinthians is known as the 'love chapter'. An interesting concept to this chapter it has been suggested that as you read it you read someone's name in place of the word 'love'. There is probably no one whose name you would insert would be completely accurate. Jesus is the only One Who is 100 percent accurate in each situation. We have no idea how much Jesus loves each and every person. A time of open worship was followed by closing prayer.

Glenn and Sue Leppert were visitors in the service. Also, Shanna Hartman and Chad Winslow had Shanna's little niece with them.

Stealing someone's coffee is called mugging.

Pasturize: Too far to see

The other day I held the door open for a clown. It was a nice jester. I put my grandma on speed dial. I call that instagram.
