Marian Ferebee

Marian Joyce Ferebee, the daughter of Loren and Amy (Hoins) Bailey, was born April 26, 1933, northeast of Guide Rock, Neb., in Webster County. She died Feb. 22, at her home north of Nelson, surrounded by her family.

Marian's early childhood was on the family farm where she was born. The family moved to southeast of Guide Rock, where she graduated from high school in 1951. After graduation she and her twin sister, Maxine, moved to Superior, and worked at Armours.

Marian was united in marriage to James Ferebee on Feb. 16, 1957, at the Guide Rock Methodist Church, which was on her parents, 30th weddng anniversary. To this union two children were born, Karen Sue and Allen Lee.

Marian's greatest joy in life was her family. No family gathering was complete without her apple pie. Marian worked alongside her husband, Jim, on the family farm helping with whatever needed to be done. She enjoyed working in the garden and flower bed to provide food and beauty for her family. Marian taught Sunday school and served as the chairperson for the funeral dinners for many years. Marian served on the election board and belonged to the "Home Improvement Extension Club" until it was disbanded.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Hartman and husband, Carl; brother-in-law, Lawrence Williams; brother and sister-in-laws, Vivian and Loren Ferebee, Shirley and Elmer Peterson, Gene Ferebee; niece and husband, Kathleen and Dwayne McGinnis; and nephew, Darrell Oltmanns.

Survivors include her husband, James Ferebee of Nelson; daughter Karen Daniels and husband, Terry; son, Allen Ferebee and wife, Julie; twin sister, Maxine Williams; sister-in-law, Violet Ferebee; grandchildren: Travas Daniels and wife, Bethany; Anthony Ferebee; Alexandria Ferebee; Adriana Ferebee; Miranda Walton and husband, Colby and Candice Wagstrom; great-grandchildren: Oaklie Walton; Wyatt Walton; Cade Walton; nieces, nephews, other realatives and a host of friends.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Pastors Ivan and Joyce Dean will be officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery.
