Mary Scroggins joins city staff as development director

Mary Scroggins has taken up her duties as the City of Superior's Development Director. She began working at the city administration building last Monday.

Scroggins brings a wealth of experience to the position. She was born in Jerome, Idaho and graduated from Jerome High School. After graduation she migrated to the west coast where she began her working career. She worked as a district sales manager for a Los Angeles company for 11 years. She departed the California scene to move to Denver in 1992. She was the owner and sales manager of a company for 15 years. Scroggins was next a division manager for a large giftwares sales group based in Denver.

She has extensive experience in interfacing with business owners. She has organized and presented at several industry sales shows a year.

She attended the University of Phoenix, Lone Tree, Colorado, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2004. She earned a master's degree in business administration from the same institution in 2006.


Scroggins met her husband of 27 years, Ken, while both were serving as board members of Denver Urban Ministries. The couple took the decision to relocate to Superior to be near their grandchildren. One of their daughters, Jacki Siebecker, and her husband Trent, reside in Superior. The couple purchased a house in Superior and have resided here for three years.

Scroggins volunteers at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital gift shop handling the purchasing and inventory control.

She is an avid reader and music enthusiast. She plays the piano and studies voice. She has an abiding interest in aviation, having served as a second lieutenant in the Long Beach, California Civil Air Patrol. She was also a glider and hot air balloon pilot.


Scroggins looks forward to working on attracting new businesses to the city, working with existing businesses to expand their possibilities and working with local committees to improve the economic state of Superior.
