As Brodstone Memorial Hospital continues to take measures in order to prepare for potential COVID-19 in the communities they serve, communicating protocols and processes they are currently following is of importance. Teams have been diligently working to stay updated on changes and recommendations in order to communicate the most pertinent information to the public.

All actions being taken are being done in order to put the safety of employees and patients first. Limiting traffic through the building by implementing visitor restrictions and screening upon entry for all patients and employees helps to decrease potential exposure to the entire facility.

With the purchase of the UV Light Disinfection Robot and new negative pressure hood, we’ve added equipment to help us maximize our resources and efforts preparing for COVID-19, which will also allow us to increase overall patient safety in the future. They continue to ask if you have recently traveled to a known infected area outside of the United States, traveled to any state outside of Nebraska or Kansas, or had exposure to someone who has COVID-19, and are now experiencing any of the following symptoms alone or in combination: fever greater than or equal to 100 degrees, cough, shortness of breath or sore throat please call 402-879-3281, then press zero to notify them of your symptoms and possible exposure prior to arriving at the facility.

As of Tuesday, there are no positive cases within Nuckolls County. Although there is no immediate threat at this time, people are highly encouraged to keep using proper hand hygiene and practice social distancing. The importance of these few preventative measures can be paramount as we all work together to help flatten the curve of this outbreak.

Although Brodstone plans to communicate as much information to the public as possible, they also want to explain their plan of communication if a case were to arise. Once a swab is sent off to a lab for testing, all communication and guidance comes from our local health district, South Heartland District Health Department (SHDHD). If there is a positive case within the community, it will be communicated by the SHDHD, not Brodstone Memorial Hospital. Brodstone’s teams are in daily communications with representatives from the district and continue to follow their guidance as well as CDC and DHHS recommendations to stay up to date.
