Max Lewis

 

Max Eugene Lewis, the son of Glenn and Edna (Marshall) Lewis, was born on June 29, 1934, on a farm east of Burr Oak, Kan. He died on March 27, 2020, at his home in Burr Oak at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 27 days.

Max attended grade school in Burr Oak while helping out on the farm. He was united in marriage to Verna Jane Shuck on June 22, 1958, at the Burr Oak Christian Church. This union was blessed with a son.

Max enjoyed going to his son’s store in Burr Oak to visit with people. He worked for many years at the lumber yard in Burr Oak; along with farming until 1970 when he moved to town. He was a lifetime member of the Burr Oak Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Edna; and three step brothers, Floyd, LeRoy and George Mohler.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; and his son, Allen and his wife, Rose, of Burr Oak; his brother, Encille and his wife, Marilyn, of Manhattan, Kan .; and two step-grandsons, Christopher and Scotty; other relatives and a host of friends.

In compliance with the CDC guidelines, a private family graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, at the Highland Cemetery near North Branch, with Jeff Ord officiating.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. March 30. Memorials are in care of the family.
