Red Flag fire warning issued for today

 

Tuesday afternoon, members of the Superior Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire directly east of the Superior airport. A controlled burn had gotten out of control. Firemen used the airport's runaway to station a tanker truck. They were also approach the fire both east and west. Farmers on tractors with disks assisted in nearby corn stubble. There was also a large controlled burn southeast of Superior at the same time.

With Red Flag warnings being posted this week by the National Weather Service, area fire departments are getting to exercise their trucks. Sunday the Hardy Fire Department was called out for a small pasture fire. Monday the Superior Fire Department was called for a fire near the Lovewell Lake Cabin Area. Tuesday morning they were called to a grass fire north of Lincoln Park, apparently caused by a power line spark. Tuesday afternoon they were called to help contained a controlled burn that had gotten out of control on the back side of the Superior Airport.
