The Jewell County Commissioners Mark Fleming, Steve Greene and Keith Roe, and Carla J Waugh, county clerk, were present for the May 4 commissioners’meeting.

The minutes of the April 27 meeting and minutes of the May 1 special county commissioners’ meeting were approved.

The adjusting journal entries (transfers) for 2019 passed unanimously.

Chris Petet, custodian, discussed the cord on the flag pole.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed equipment repairs. The status of patch work on Y Road north of the lake was discussed.

Commissioners discussed requests of closing a road in Grant and Calvin

townships.

Joel Elkins discussed new hires.

Nancy Marihugh, health administrator, provided an update on the COVID-19 cases and reporting. Marihugh said she posted the Governor’s Executive Order and Jewell County’s slight restrictions on the Health Department’s Facebook page. She discussed guidance for churches. The department was fielding several questions on the Phase 1. Marihugh said she was asked about summer ball programs. They are not allowed in Phase 1.
