Lightning protection scam targets Jewell County residents

 


The Jewell County Sheriff’s office is investigating an apparent scam in the county. A group of three to five men from Nebraska appear to be targeting elderly residents in Jewell County claiming to be “Lightning Protection Specialists” out of Grand Island. These men are examining roofs and telling victims they will be protected from lightning for “X” amount of years if the victim writes a check for “X” amount of money.
