Carolyn Dee Frankamp was born on April 30, 1945, in Northbranch, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon D. and Carol R. (Gleason) Pugh, and died at her home in Belleville on May 24.

Carolyn grew up in Northbranch, attending the Northbranch Academy School before the family relocated to Belleville, where Carolyn attended and graduated from Belleville High School. While in high school, Carolyn was selected to be the first female student council president of Belleville High School.
