Mankato City Library posts reopening plan

Mankato City Library is in the Phase Out portion of the reopening plan. The rules and procedures include the following:

1) Library hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. sharp, Tuesday through Friday. All other times before, after and in between 1:30 and 2 p.m., the library will be locked to the public and no librarian services will be provided during those times. On 1st and 3rd Saturdays, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. sharp as it was before. All federal holidays will be observed.

2) Returns are still to be returned in the dropboxes only, no returns will be accepted at the librarian’s desk. All returned materials and items that come in on the courier are still going through 72 hours of quarantine and this will continue until Central Kansas Library System advises otherwise.

3) Social distancing is strongly encouraged between patrons, as is mask wearing. Patrons must maintain social distance with staff. The only exception to this will be during one on one tech help at computers for which appointments will be required, masks will be required for both the library staff giving the help and the patron receiving the help and a time limit of 10 minutes of help will be provided.

4) Bathrooms are closed to the public at this time and until further notice. Keep this in mind when planning visits and make other arrangements.

5) No large book donations accepted at this time. Single book donations go in the dropboxes.

6) Do not move the furniture in the library. The furniture is arranged to promote social distancing and will be used as is at this time.

7) Games, toys and video games are not being provided at this time.

8) Copies are 10 cents a sheet for black and white, 25 cents each sheet for color, faxes are $1 per page up to a maximum charge of $5 for 5 or more pages. Payment must be made in cash. No check, credit card or $100 bills accepted. Printing and faxing needs to be done well before closing times as closing times are firm.

9) Patrons will be allowed to use the computers for as long as needed providing no one is waiting on a computer. If patrons are waiting, those using the computer may be asked to give others the computer. Promptly finish using the computers when it’s time to close the library.

10) Curbside service will continue to be provided to patrons who choose this during the hours the library is providing all other services to the public. Patrons will need to call at the time they wish to make the request and then call at the time they plan to show up if there will be a long period of time between the request and pickup. This is to ensure it’s within staff’s ability to meet the curbside patron outside the library.

11) All other rules of behavior in the library will apply as usual.
