Geraldine Wright

 


Hastings resident, Geraldine Ann (Smith) Wright, 83, daughter of Orin Smith and Florence McLane Smith, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Good Samaritan Village. She was born Oct. 23, 1936, at Colchester, Conn. Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Philadelphia, Pa., where she was raised until middle school.

Geraldine graduated high school in Lake Wales, Fla. Gerri lived in Taranto, Italy in the early 60s, where she learned Italian as a second language and learned to cook authentic Italian food. She met her soul mate, Walter Wright, in Brush, Colo., in 1985. In 1887, they moved to Las Vegas where she managed apartment complexes. Walt and Gerri retired to Superior in 1999 and bought their first home.

The couple’s last move was in 2015 to Hastings. In retirement, Gerri enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food. She attended the United Methodist church in Superior. In Hastings, she attended religious services provided by the Villa Assisted Living and Perkins.


Gerri was preceded in death by Walter Wright and her parents, Orin and Florence McLane Smith. Mrs. Wright along with her husband, Walter, were cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior. Pastor Natalie Faust will officiate.

Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of the arrangements.
