Most residents of rural Nebraska learned years ago not to take anything for granted. Like rain fall amounts.

This year of 2020 is a prime example. Most folks will remember 2019 as a “very wet” year.

For many of us living in southcentral Nebraska, 2020 looked like it would be listed as a “very dry” year as much of southern Nebraska was being included in the University of Nebraska’s “Drought Monitoring Program” as being in a drought area.

Along comes this week. On Sunday night, Hebron, Neb., recorded more than four inches of rain, most of the rest of the area had maybe a quarter of an inch of rain. Superior recorded 3.62 inches,

However . . . what happened on Monday night ? ? ? The Little Blue NRD Rain Assessment reported the village of Lawrence received 4.2 inches of rain; 7 to 8 miles east of Lawrence, there was 1.52 inches; between Angus and Oak 1.23 inches; south of Lawrence 1.3 inches and in Superior 1.8 inches of rain.

Other reporting stations had not reported yet Tuesday morning when this was written.
