Superior's the place for bargain hunters

Bargain hunters will converge on Superior the coming two Saturdays and business owners and residents to join to offer some spectacular deals in the fresh air where it will be easier to maintain social distancing.

First in the line-up will be the Sidewalk Bazaar scheduled for this Saturday.

A number of merchants have agreed to move their specials onto the sidewalks on Saturday morning. Those merchants have also purchased special sidewalk bazaar advertising in this issue of The Express.

The next week will be the semi-annual City-wide Garage Sale. The event of more than 30 years running is sponsored by this newspaper.

Those holding the sales are asked to register at the newspaper office and pay a nominal $6 fee to help with the promotion costs.

The next issue of The Express and the newspaper’s website will contain descriptions of what will be offered at the garage sales and their location.

Those planning on holding a garage sale are asked to register before noon Monday so the adverisement can be prepared for the next issue.

In a normal year the garage sales are held the fourth Saturday in April and the second Saturday in August. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the April event was not held.

Now we know more about how the virus is spread and the weather is warmer and more conducive to outside activites, plans are going forward for the August sale. While the event is called a garage sale, sellers are encouraged to locate their wares in areas with sufficent air flow to disperse any virus particles.

Participants are encouraged to wear masks, follow the social distancing rules and wash their hands or use sanitizers frequently.
