Love my Crazy Life

August 20, 2020

I had a huge mom fail in the last couple of weeks. My youngest, Jacob, youngest of the second set of kids, is turning 16 in September. We went to do the driving permit thing, and the examiner told me he needed to have his learner’s permit or school permit for six months before getting his driver’s license. Also, a school permit is only good for three months after turning 16 years of age.

I don’t remember reading that part when I was going over the rules and regulations. I may have skimmed right over it though as that stuff is such a pleasure to read. The plan had been to get the permit taken care of in the first part of the year, but Jacob broke his ankle. Before that healed up, everything closed down because of the pandemic, and then when it reopened, we were all self-isolating because either, A. he had visited his dad in Kansas, or B. we had just got home from N.Y.

Long story short, I will be driving him from A to B or finding him a ride for the next six months, and I was looking forward to not being his taxi this school year. On the plus side, since Robert bought his truck and is paying for his car insurance, we get to enjoy a less expensive premium for a while yet.

School started today, and I can’t tell you how relieved I am about that. I have my days back to myself, sort of, and no longer have to juggle so much. Maybe now you can finally get some “quality” reading material out of me. I’m also hoping the house will stay clean for more than just a few hours. I’m still at home, though, so we will see. LOL!

I’m excited for football games, which will give me a reason to put on something other than PJs and get out of the house. I had mixed emotions about school starting and our boys playing football this year. This pandemic, along with all the other political conflicts and complete chaos happening all around us, has me on edge about most everything. But, I have faith in our teachers, staff, and coaches and our kids need things to get back to normal, as normal as possible, that is.

Many of the bigger schools have already had to change their schedules since opening the doors. I pray that we don’t. I pray that all our kids, teachers, staff, and coaches remain healthy and have a super fabulous school year despite all the changes. X’s & O’s.
