Clifford Earl Vetter, 92, of Randall died Monday, Aug. 17 at Resident Care Center, Beloit. Cliff was born Sept. 24, 1927, to Reuben and Wilda (Treaster) Better on the family farm north of Solomon Rapids.

Cliff attended country school and graduated from Beloit High School in 1945. It was on Aug. 20, 1950, he married Nevada Beisner at her parents home in Natoma. Four children were born to this union, Vickie, Elaine, Nancy and Phil.

Cliff and Nevada moved to their farm home north of Randall and raised their family.

In his younger days, Cliff enjoyed riding horses and would tell stories about his brothers and him riding to school. His love was baseball and he talked about his teammates from Beloit and Glen Elder. Cliff was a farmer by heart with a cow-calf operation in his early years and then a cropland operation. As the children grew, he taught them to play baseball and went on short vacations. In later years, he enjoyed attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s music programs, school plays, 4-H, sports activities and rodeo events. Cliff was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit.

Cliff was preceded in death by his wife Nevada of 66 years; his parents; granddaughter, Peggy Jean Peters; great-grandson, Cayden Dunstan; and brothers, Richard and Harry Noel.

Survivors include his children; Vickie (Scott) Fenner of Conway, Ark., Elaine (Daniel) Peters of Randall, Nancy (Bill) Buser of Jewell, Phil (Kristi) Vetter of Randall; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elise Vetter of Wahoo. Neb.; brother-in-law, Jim Paschal of Lindsborg; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments from 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 20. His funeral was at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment followed at St. John’s Cemetery.
