SHS Wildcat football team soundly defeats Fairbury Jeffs

Superior Wildcat Elijah Heusinkvelt (33) breaks through the line because of the good blocking by Ezekiel Meyer (22), Payton Christiancy (58) and Clayton Morris. Superior played at home against Fairbury Jeffs, Friday.

The Fairbury Jeffs football team came to town Friday, but the Superior Wildcats tended to business and won 20 to 0. It was their first win since Coach Paul Heusinkvelt took over.

First quarter, Zeke Meyer scored on a 29 yard pass from Dane Miller. Two-point conversion attempt failed.

The team's second and third quarters yielded no points.

Fourth quarter, Dane Miller scored on an 11 yard run. Two-point conversion attempt failed. Zeke Meyer scored on a 39 yard run. Dane Miller ran in for a successful two-point conversion.

Statistics: Dane Miller completed three passes out of eight attempts for 47 yards and one touchdown, rushed for 73 yards, one tackle, one interception, one fumble and four punt returns.

Clayton Morris, 76 yards rushing, two solo tackles, five tackle assists and one tackle for a loss.

Elijah Heusinkvelt, 33 rushing yards, one fumble, one tackle assist and one 25-yard kickoff return.

Zeke Meyer, 36 yards rushing, one touchdown, 36 yards receiving, two tackles and one interception.

Jacob Meyer, 11 yards receiving and two tackle assists.

Jordan Brown, eight tackles, two tackle assists, one sack, two tackles for a loss and punted once for 51 yards.

Conner Blackstone, "Wildcat Collision Player of the Game," four solo tackles, two tackles and assists and kickoff four times for 155 yards.

Seth Schnakenberg, two solo tackles, three tackle assists and one tackle for a loss.

Matt Colgrove, one solo tackle and four tackle assists.

Anders Webber, one solo tackle and three tackle assists.

Ty Boller, one solo tackle and two tackle assists.

Tyler Everhart, one solo tackle.

Payton Christiancy, one tackle assist.

Luke Jameson, one tackle assist.

Aiden Humphries, one punt for 30 yards.

It was a beautiful early fall evening for a football game. The crowds from both schools should have been comfortable watching the game. Some may have put jackets on after the sun went down, but most did not. It was great the SHS players won the game decisively.
