The Nuckolls County Museum Church will soon be covered with a new coat of white paint. Above, a workman carefully paints the trim around the stained glass window on the church steeple. The paint prep work has been complete on both the church and the school house. The painting is being done by Kucera Painting, Deweese.

The Nuckolls County Museum, Superior, will remain closed through the end of 2020. The board of directors made the decision, Monday, based on input from the South Heartland Health District.

Exterior paint work is ongoing on the museum church and Beach School buildings. Kucera Painting is the contractor for the job. Museum volunteers will paint the outhouse and coal storage buildings.

Dereck Kirchhoff, as part of his Eagle Scout project, worked on the preservation of the log cabin at the museum. The building was constructed by William Louden, the founder of Superior. Kirchhoff, along with other volunteers, rechinked the space between the logs of the cabin. They applied two sprayings of wood preservative to the cabin.

The museum is in the process of applying for financial grants to aid in ongoing and future projects.
