Ela Jorgensen does lots of ball handling for the Lady Raiders. Here she receives a serve in the triangular held in Nelson. Watching behind her is Aleah Heikkinen.

Many folks had a feeling . . . that the COVID would impact the 2020 season somehow.

Well it did last week with the folks in Shelton having concerns for health issues. They postponed their game with the Lady Raiders last Thursday evening. The hope is to re-schedule the game, but open dates have to be found.

The Tuesday night games were in Nelson as Harvard and Kenesaw came to visit in a triangular setting with the Raiders. It was an interesting night for L-N as the two class D-1 schools defeated L-N, but the games were contested all the way and with a little bit of luck the Raiders could have won both. Both of the Raider's games went all three sets and the Kenesaw-Harvard game went two sets with Kenesaw winning.

L-N vs. HARVARD: 25-15, 20-25, 19-25: An interesting game to watch. The first set was tied seven times, the last time at 12-12 when Aleah Heikkinen came to the service line. While there, the team put together a 13-0 scoring run. The run included three ace serves, kills by Emily Miller and Tori Miller and several hitting errors by Harvard. Near the beginning of this scoring run a long volley took place in which Emily M. got off two consecutive hits that sure looked like they should have been kills, but Harvard was able to dig them out only to see Emily end the volley with an ace block.

The second set had the score tied eight times and it ended with the four final points being decided only after volleys of interest. However, the Raiders were plagued with hitting errors at the time and gave up the set.

L-N led early in the final set but Harvard tied the score at 8-8 and pulled ahead. Emma Epley pounded down a couple of her game high nine kills for the game, but Harvard was able to respond well, winning the game.
