Norman Lunzmann

Norman L. Lunzmann, 84, of Deshler, Neb., the son of John and Edna (Peters) Lunzmann, was born June 6, 1936, in Byron, Neb. He died Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler.

Norm grew up on a farm near Byron, attending District No. 64 School through the 8th grade. He left school because his dad needed his help on the farm.

Norm entered the United States Army in July 29, 1958, and was honorably discharged July 19, 1960. He returned home to farm and continued farming all of his life even hauling fat cattle with his brother all the way to Omaha in a straight truck.

He married Rosella Gerberding Oct. 19, 1975, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron. Norman and Rosella went everywhere together, and enjoying each others company especially playing cards with friends and neighbors.

Norm was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron, and Deshler American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosella in 2011; infant brother, Raymond; and brother-in-law, Robert Finke.

He is survived by his brother, Arlen and wife, Ines, of Byron; one sister-in-law, Louisa Fintel; and brother-in-law, Russ Gerberding and wife, Marla, all of Deshler; two nephews, Scott Finke and wife, Marla, Bruce Finke and wife, Tami, both of Deshler; two nieces, Gina Hudson and husband, Bill, of Belvidere, and Shana Gerberding of Deshler; great-nieces and nephews, Kolby and wife, Anna, Brett, and Jana Finke, Heath and Hutch Finke, and Ethan, TaraLee and JessaLynn Hudson; great-great nephews, Mason, Duncan and William Finke; other relatives and a host of friends.

A private funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. Peter Lutheran Church rural Byron. Officiant will be Pastor Breen Sipes. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler. Organist will be Crystal Krenke and hymns “One Day At A Time,” “Children Of The Heavenly Father” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Casket bearers will be Kolby, Brett and Jana Finke, Heath and Hutch Finke, Ethan, TaraLee and JessaLynn Hudson.

Public interment will be 11 a.m., at Deshler City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to http://www.krollfh.com, memorial in care of the family. Kroll Funeral Home of Deshler is in charge of arrangements.
