October 1, 2020

Friday, Sept. 14, No place to go . . . four Lawrence-Nelson Raiders have a Giltner ball carrier surrounded. Pictured (from left) are Conner Janda (20), and unidentified player, Jacob Swift (10) and Nolan Ostdiek (22).

Just like the Raider varsity teams, the JV teams are also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The JV football team has played two games this season, but have had the last two cancelled because of the pandemic. A brief rundown on the two games:

August 30: L-N – SUPERIOR: 14-38: Turnovers and defensive tackles plagued the young Raiders in their first game of the season against Superior. Scoring for L-N came from: Wyatt Brockman on a 32 yard TD pass from Connor Janda. The PAT failed.

The second score came on an eight yard TD run by Conner Janda. The PAT pass from Janda to Tyson Kotinek was good.

Leading tacklers for the game for L-N were: Tyson Kotinek and Emilo Pano.

September 14: L-N – GILTNER: 25-6: For their second game of the season L-N traveled to Giltner and Coach Jared Niederklein noted that "the play was much better and it was a good team win as every player contributed and showed improvement."

Scoring were: Conner Janda on a 27 yard TD run; Tyson Kotinek scored three times: a 44 yard pass from brother Toby Kotinek; a 33 yard and 56 yard pass from Conner Janda. Diego Wolfe kicked one PAT.

Leading tacklers were Tyson Kotinek and Devyn Zikmund.

Two games have been cancelled so far. They were against Blue Hill and against Kenesaw.

The next scheduled game is Oct. 5 at Thayer Central.
