October 8, 2020

It didn’t get easier for the Rock Hills Grizzlies football team as they walked away with a 54-8 mercy rule invoked two-quarter loss to the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at Kensington, Friday.

Once again a porous defense and ineffective offense doomed the Grizzlies to their fourth loss of the season to pair with one win.

Jerrod Gillett completed five of his 10 pass attempts for 73 yards. Davion McDonald hauled in three passes for 30 yards. Grant Meyers turned his one reception into a 30 yard gain. Mason Higer picked up six yards with his lone reception.

Gillett carried the ball 18 times to cover 32 yards. He scored the single Rock Hills touchdown. Higer gained 15 yards with his seven carries. McDonald and Meyers gained no yardage with their one rush apiece.

Meyers led the defense with three solo tackles and one assisted tackle. Higer came through with a solo tackle and assisted with three others. Caden Slate notched a solo tackle and two assisted tackles. Jacob Barry and Kole Vance contributed a solo tackle and an assisted tackle each to the team effort. Gillett, Buck Luedke and McDonald added an assisted tackle each.

The Grizzlies host the 1-4  Southern Cloud Warriors at Mankato, Friday. Rock Hills will look to pick up their second win of the season.
