On Oct. 6, Mankato had a visitor from New York. Elsa Lagache stopped at Possibilities to take a break from her bicycle trip across America.

Lagache started her journey on Sept. 3, from New York. She has biked 1,500 miles putting her right in the middle of her journey. Lagache's destination is San Francisco, Calif. She travels anywhere from 40 to 70 miles a day depending on the weather conditions. In the first 500 miles of her trip, Lagache raised funds for a nonprofit organization called Keep a Child Alive. Lagache's inspiration for this journey was to show women can do anything alone without depending on anyone else. Lagache is a vegan and an environmental activist. She is also married.

On weekends, Lagache camps while during the week she prefers staying at motels to rest for the next day's journey. Once at her San Francisco destination, Lagache plans to travel back to New York on a train.
