The Nebraska Fire Marshall’s office is investigating a Clay County fire that destroyed several pieces of farm equipment and sent shivers through this area’s farming community.

On Thursday morning the Clay Center and Sutton fire departments responded to a fire in a rural Clay County cornfield.

The fire destroyed a combine, two semi-trucks with trailers filled with grain, a tractor and grain cart.
