Clinton Burger

Clinton J. Burger was born at Plainville, Kan., Nov. 19, 1929. He died Nov. 9, 2020.

Clinton was the son of Clinton and Freeda (Gilbert) Burger. As a young child, the family moved from Plainville to Beloit. Clinton graduated from Beloit High School in 1947.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Carter on Sept. 18, 1949, in Beloit. They resided there until moving to Norway, Kan. In 1961, they relocated their family to Belleville. To this union, four children were born: William, Linda, Alice and Rebecca.

Clinton was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard, serving for 10 years. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 40 years, retiring as the superintendent over the counties of Jewell, Cloud, Mitchell and Republic. He was a long time member of the Central Christian Church in Belleville, having served as a member of the board, as a deacon, and as a member of the building and grounds committee.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; daughters, Linda Douglas Holl; Alice (Danny) Carlow; and Rebecca (Bob) Brown; grandchildren, David (Ashley) Douglas, Reese and Max; Daniel (Monica) Douglas, Tyson and Brady; Nicole (Nick) Kraus, Trenton and Charles; Kendra (Shannon) Short, Carter and Grayson; Austin (Casey) Brown; Joshua Brown; CL Burger, Jamie, Colby and Zach; and Martin Burger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Freeda; his brother, Arthur Burger; his sister, Irene Sewell; his son, William Burger, and wife, Kay; and sons-in-law, Charles Douglas and Leon Holl.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, Central Christian Church, conducted by Pastor Jacob Rice.

Private family interment will be in Belleville Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospitals or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m., today (Thursday) Nov. 19, at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville. The casket will remain closed.
