Lora A. Martin, 73, daughter of Bernard J. Tarkowski and Helen F. (Blanchat) Tarkowski, was born July 27, 1947, at Belleville. She died Nov. 14 at Lakeview Assisted Living, Firth.

Lora grew up on the family farm and then moved to Belleville where she graduated from Belleville High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Stephen Martin on Jan, 29, 1969, having three children, Michael, Stephenie and Gregory.

Lora enjoyed music, the arts, including painting, gardening and time with her family. She worked as a special needs teacher, in banking and operated a floral shop, all the while raising her children.

She and Steve operated a produce stand at farmers’ markets in their later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Helen Tarkowski; her husband, Stephen Martin; a son, Gregory; and a sister, Paula Jeardoe.

Survivors include her son, Michael Martin; daughter, Mrs. Clayton Doeschot (Stephenie); stepson, Stephen Martin; and stepdaughter, Christine Johanson.

A private graveside service was held Friday at the Belleville Cemetery.
