Nelson American Legion hosts special presentation

At the joint meeting of the Legion, SALS and Auxiliary was held on Thursday, the women began dividing the cookies they had brought into plates to be delivered to local older veterans and family members. Some of the gentlemen assisted in this process but had to be watched carefully to keep them from too much sampling. At the joint meeting of the Legion, SALS and Auxiliary held on Dec. 10, a Quilt of Valor was presented to Nelson resident, David Ankron. The quilt was designed and presented by Sandra Larkey of the Lost Needle Quilters of Nelson and was lovingly stitched by its members. Dave served the country from 1991 to 2001 and was an I Corp member during the Gulf War. He also served the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia. Dave is a valued member of the Nelson American Legion, and expressed his pride in serving and gratitude for this recognition.
