KSHSAA makes policy change for winter sports

December 17, 2020

The Kansas State High School Activities Association Board of Appeals, by a 7-1 vote, approved revisiting their adopted policy of no spectators at winter sports events across Kansas. The board held a virtual meeting last Tuesday.

The board amended the attendance policy, effective from Dec. 10, 2020 through Jan. 28, 2021, to allow the attendance of up to two parents or guardians per participant family as allowed by local board of education or health department restrictions.

Only one or two parents or guardians will be allowed to attend an event regardless of how many students are participating from their family. The wording of the decision allows local school districts and health officials to prohibit attendance at their events.
