Davion McDonald (11), Jerrod Gillett (2), Caden Slate (44), Dalton Schmitt (55) and Ethan Kenworthy (14) team up to apply a pressure defense to a St. Johm's-Tipton player during last Tuesday's season opening game at Mankato.

After their first two scheduled games of the 2020-2021 season were cancelled because of COVID-19 related issues, the Rock Hills High School boys basketball team took to the court, Tuesday, at Mankato where they hosted the St. John's-Tipton Blujays. When the game ended, the Grizzlies were saddled with a 55-42 loss.

Rock Hills held a 13-10 lead after the first quarter of play. Roles were reversed as St. John's-Tipton pulled out to a 25-18 lead at the halfway mark. The teams each scored 16 points in the third quarter to leave the Grizzlies within reach though they trailed 41-34. The Blujays edged away in the fourth quarter to seal the 55-42 win.

Jerrod Gillett and Davion McDonald led the Grizzlies scoring with 13 points each. Mason Higer chipped in six points. Tristyn Brown contributed five points. Ethan Kenworthy hit for three points. Caden Slate scored two points.

The Grizzlies were scheduled to play Red Cloud on Jan. 5 but that game was cancelled. Rock Hills will travel to Chase to play the Chase Kats, Friday, Jan. 8.
