RHHS girls trounce Chase team

The Rock Hills High School girls basketball team recorded one of their more resounding wins of recent years when they downed the Chase Kats, 73-30, at Chase Friday. The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders visited Mankato, Tuesday, with game results unavailable at press time.

Rock Hills opened up a 20-13 first quarter lead. They played perfect defense and offense in the second quarter to take an 50-18 lead into the half. They pulled further away in the third period, leading 64-24 over the hapless Kats. The final buzzer saw the Grizzlies record their first win of the season and even their record at 1-1.

Lauren Whelchel led the Grizzlies offense with a career high 32 points. She recorded nine rebounds. Karrigan Dunstan and Jauclyn Lemke put up 11 points each. Lemke posted 11 rebounds. Selena Luong scored nine points.

Rock Hills takes on the Pike Valley Panthers at Mankato Friday. The Grizzlies travel to Lincoln for a game Tuesday.


There will be a pass gate at Friday’s game for spectators.
