Ronald Eugene Aksamit died Jan. 1, on his homestead near Eagle River, Alaska with his wife of 43 years by his side. He was 80 years old. Ron was born on July 10, 1940, to William and Rose (Kucera) Aksamit. He grew up on the family farm three miles south of Deweese, attended Pleasant Hill Elementary School and graduated from Nelson High School. After his freshman year at Univerity of Nebraska at Lincoln, Ron was asked by his aunt and uncle to drive a pick-up truck they had purchased in Colorado to Anchorage where they lived.
