Sharon Ann Wilson was the fifth of six children born to Robert and Betty (Fobes) Wilson was born on March 25, 1957. Sharon was a typical farm girl growing up southwest of Mankato. She began grade school at Ionia and later transferred to Jewell schools, where she graduated from high school in 1975.

Sharon grew up with three older brothers, Bob, Jerry and Rich; one younger, brother, Curt; and one older sister, Diane. An older brother, Larry died at birth.

Her early life consisted of the usual farm chores inside and out. She enjoyed the outdoors and playing with the farm dogs and cats.

One of Sharon’s earliest jobs was at a photography studio in Beloit. Other jobs throughout her life included Tony’s Pizza, Exide Battery and Lowes, all in Salina.

Remembrances from family members include Diane remembers Sharon as a hard worker and wanting to help others. Sharon was a people person and enjoyed interacting with others and was forgiving. Times with family and being around Diane’s grand-children were times she treasured. She loved trips to the ocean when visiting Katrine in California.

Bob remembers Sharon as being Dad’s favorite when she was little. This may have been where she developed her love for fishing. In later years, Sharon enjoyed fishing trips with her brothers. She was always crocheting different items during family get togethers.

Rhonda (sister-in-law) remembers her being an avid Chiefs fan; even while in the hospital on Dec. 20, it was reported Sharon asked if the Chiefs were playing that day because she wanted to cheer them on. I liked to see what she was working on next as far as her crocheting, she was very talented.

Katrine (niece) states Sharon was dearly loved. She was sweet and tender hearted, accepting of everyone. Sharon had a sense of humor and enjoyed seeing new places. She was excited and in awe of God’s creation and loved capturing this in her photography while on vacation with her sister Diane.

Jerry remembers how much Sharon loved those fishing trips with her brothers. She was in love with the outdoors and observing nature. She enjoyed family get togethers and took her crocheting supplies wherever she went.

Richard says that Sharon loved being on the farm and playing baseball and basketball with her brothers. She was not afraid of hard work. She loved fishing and taking outdoor pictures. She drove to nearby lakes and loved taking pictures of bald eagles. Because of her love of crocheting there was always lots of yarn around her house, in her car, etc.

Curt and Shari (sister-in-law) remember her love of the outdoors and taking wildlife pictures. Sharon was especially fond of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
