Jewell County sees heavy snowfall

January 28, 2021

Jewell County Sheriff's office reported a jack-knifed semi blocked the Highway 36 and 14 South intersection around noon Monday. It snowed through much of the day. The National Weather Bureau reported Jewell received 10.3 inches of snow.

On Monday, Jewell County experienced a full day of heavy snowfall. Throughout the day business were shoveling sidewalks so customers could still get in. School was cancelled at Rock Hills for Monday and Tuesday. Monday evening, the Mankato City trucks were clearing the streets so residents would be able to travel safely throughout town.

Tuesday morning brought a break in the snow. Piles of snow sat in the middle of the streets from the clearing of the roads the night before. However the lanes of the streets were clear. Residents of Mankato had trouble getting their cars out of their driveways, so may have been late to work, or possibly had decided to work.

For those who like the snow, Monday was a beautiful day. The snow still sat Tuesday so children out of school could play in it.
