February 18, 2021

Vernon Herman Kimminau, the son of George and Hilda (Brockman) Kimminau, was born Dec.25, 1932, near Mt. Clare, Neb. He died Feb. 7, 2021, at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, at the age of 88 years, 1 months, 13 days.

Vern attended the St. Stephens Catholic School and was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior since 1967. In 1957, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Drudik at Lawrence, Neb. To this union six children were born. Vern enlisted in the United States Army. He and Pat moved to Colorado for about a year and then returned to the Lawrence area where he farmed until moving to Superior in 1967. Together they owned and operated Pat and Vern's Bar and Tavern – birthplace of the infamous "Sauerkraut Pizza." Vern worked for the US Postal Service where he delivered mail on a rural route.

Vern was dedicated to these passions which include: family; fun with friends within the community; visiting with everyone; anything to do with sports; hunting; fishing; and Polka music. We most often referred to Vern as "ornery," which truly described how he led his life, with humor and fun. His outgoing personality and friendly wave will be missed.
