Superior Spirits adds new cooler

The Superior Spirits store has a new beer cave. Betty Butler and Michael Combs, operators of the store, took a different approach when it came to replacing a malfunctioning three-door cooler. The unit would not keep their product cool. They were informed the cooler was beyond repair. The pair thought about replacing the unit with a similar model. They compared the cost of a replacement unit with the concept of converting some of the retail floor space into a beer cave.

They enlisted Gary Holling and Tim Andreasen to make their concept a reality.

Betty Butler, operator of Superior Spirits, stands in front of the expanded selection of imported and craft beers available in the newly built beer cave at the store.

The pair drew up a conceptual plan. They would take space which was previously used for wine sales as the basic area. They opened a wall between that room and an existing cooler behind the front counter.

They extended the space into the former office. A door and archway form the entrance to the new cooler.

The addition has allowed them to expand their offerings to many new craft and imported beers. The store carries a wide selection of domestic beers also. They carry a variety of hard seltzers as well as wine coolers. The room has a capacity of more than 200 cases of beer which is kept at the perfect temperature.

The new room is energy efficient. It is outfitted with LED lights which automatically turn off when no one is present in the room.

Betty's granddaughter, Megan Combs, will be utilizing her creative abilities to decorate the entrance to the beer room. As if the beer is not already cold, the store offers free ice with all purchases.
