COVID-19 vaccine now available to all over 18

Residents of the South Heartland Health District 18 years of age and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and Brodstone Memorial Hospital has scheduled a “big vaccination event” for Saturday. However, before going to the event residents will need to call the hospital and schedule an appointment. An advertisement in this issue of The Express gives more particulars on what must be done to receive the vaccine on Saturday.

Health district officials reported 11 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in the four-day March 26 to 29 time period. There were eight in Adams County, one in Clay County and two in Nuckolls County.

The health district’s positivity for the week ending March 27 increased to 5 percent compared to 2.2 percent the week before. This number included tests given to residents and staff of the long-term care facilities which had zero cases for the sixth straight week. For community testing, the positivity rate increased from 7.6 percent the previous week to 11.6 percent. Precautions still need to be taken.
