SHS golf team opened season on the road

 


The Superior High School golf team opened their 2021 season campaign with a triangular match at the Hidden Hills Country Club, Geneva, Thursday. The match was hosted by Fillmore Central High School and was a nine-hole match. The match was played under cool but calm weather conditions.

The Wildcats hosted a quadrangular meet, Monday, with Lawrence-Nelson, Red Cloud and Bruning-Davenport-Shickley at the Superior Country Club. The match was moved up a day to take advantage of the warm weather. Conditions were warm but high winds raked the course throughout the event.

Superior finished in third place in the three team field at Geneva with a score of 251. Sutton was the third school competing at the event.

The Wildcats finished atop the team leader board at Superior with a score of 219. It was a nine-hole match. Red Cloud was in second place followed by Lawrence-Nelson and Bruning-Davenport-Shickley.

Emma Henderson has her eyes on the ball for Superior as it heads for the hole during the Superior quadrangular match Monday at the Superior Country Club. High winds hampered the golfers as they made their way around the course. Henderson finished in fifth place in the individual standings.

Conner Blackstone led the Wildcats at the Fillmore Central match with his round of 48. He finished in sixth place in the individual standings. Aaron Allgood was in the clubhouse with his round of 58 .Jacob Meyer carded a round of 70. Bayln Bargen finished with a round of 75.

Blackstone finished his round in 50 strokes. Allgood carded a round of 54. Emma Henderson finished her round in 56 strokes. Jacob Meyer was in with a round of 59. Neah McMeen concluded her round with 66 strokes. The top four scores are used to determine the team score. The junior varsity team finished in first place.

Blackstone topped the individual scoring list for the event. Allgood was in second place. Henderson earned a fifth place individual award.

Balyn Bargen took a round of 51 into the clubhouse. Taygun Rothchild carded a round of 56. Todd Keifer was in the clubhouse with a round of 59. Haley Blackstone came in with a round of 62. Carsyn Koening had a round of 60.

The Wildcats host the Superior Invitational at the Superior Country Club today (Thursday). Tee time is 10 a.m. There are 14 schools entered in the event. The junior varsity team will play at Red Cloud Tuesday.
