Rock Hills track competes at St. John's Invite

The Rock Hills High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the St. John’s Invitational meet at Beloit last Tuesday. Other teams participating in the women’s events were Bennington, Lakeside, Osborne, Lincoln, Tipton, Sylvan United, Thunder Ridge, Sunrise Christian Academy, Tescott and Beloit. Beloit did not compete in the men’s events. Southern Cloud was entered in the meet. The girls team finished in ninth place with 25 points. The boys were in seventh place with 37 points.

Lauren Whelchel took the top spot in the girls high jump when she cleared the bar at 4’8”. Raylynn Anderes tied for third place in the high jump with her mark of 4’.

Whelchel earned second place points in the pole vault when she cleared 7’6”.

Avery Brown and Hannah Simmelink competed in the long jump but finished out of the points.

Alyssa Davis and Austyn Groote took part in the discus throw.

Davis and Brown competed in the shot put.

Davis competed in the 100 meter hurdles.

Brown and Groote participated in the 100 meter dash.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Grace Ayers, Groote, Whelchel and Brown finished in fourth place with their time of 57.59 seconds.

Anderes and Simmelink ran the 800 meter run.

Groote and Paige Zadina entered the 200 meter dash.

Simmelink recorded a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:10.89.

Jerrod Gillett competed in the high jump for the boys team.

Grant Meyers scored a first place finish in the pole vault with a bar clearing effort of 11’.

Gillett picked up sixth place in the long jump with his leap of 19’2.5”. Seth Pennell took part in the event.

Wyatt Evert and Buck Luedke competed in the discus throw but finished out of the points.

Kenny Sterling took part in the javelin throw.

Evert and Ludeke participated in the shot put.

Davion McDonald and Evert entered the 100 meter dash.

Kit Wagner competed in the 1500 meter run.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Trystan Brown, Gillett, Pennell and McDonald posted a third place finish with their time of 47.27 seconds.

Kit Wagner was in the 800 meter run.

McDonald registered a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash with his time of 24.62 seconds. Evert ran the event.

The Grizzlies compete at the Republic County Invitational meet at Belleville Tuesday.
