The Jewell County commissioners met April 5. Commissioners Brent Beck, Steve Greene and Keith Roe, and Carla J. Waugh, county clerk, were present.

Joe Herz discussed the road between sections 15 and 16 of Burr Oak Township.

Nancy Marihugh, health administrator, said the governor changed the State of Kansas to Phase 5. She said the Jewell County health department received some doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. She said Lynette Huntsinger started work with the department.

Don Jacobs, sheriff, discussed the updated agreement with Equature Hardware Refresh for the recording system connected to the telephones and radio system. The Equature Hardware Refresh agreement was approved for 5 years.

Shannon Meier, ambulance director, reviewed the March activity and billing report. Meier said he will be part of the interview panel for Lincoln County hiring process for their EMS director. He requested an executive session to discuss confidential data relating to financial affairs. It was approved to write-off $198 as uncollectible for the first quarter of 2021 for EMS.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, said they were attempting to start on asphalt repairs, but the weather may not cooperate. He also reported the bridge inspection had started. The commissioners discussed road maintenance.

Carla Waugh discussed the auditor’s proposed transfers and a road closing notice.
