Leona Korb

 


Leona (Margaret) McCutcheon Korb was born on May 9, 1935, on her family’s farm near Webber Kan. and died Feb. 28, 2021, in Merriam, Kan., with family and friends by her side.

Margaret looked back on her youth with fond memories of growing up on the farm with her parents and brother, Richard “Dick” McCutcheon. She married Tom Korb Feb. 9, 1958. They have one son, Mark Korb. They made their home in Bladen, Neb., and later moved to Superior. For several years, their family held evangelistic services in churches throughout the Midwest and then pastored several churches in Kansas.

In 1979 the family moved to Overland Park, Kan., to serve at Kansas City College and Bible School. Margaret enjoyed being a second mom to “her girls” who lived in the dorm at the college. Margaret worked in medical, insurance and retail fields throughout her life. She spoke fondly of her time taking care of patients when she worked at the hospital in Superior. Margaret made many life-long friends with customers and co-workers in the 20 years she worked at Dillard’s in Kansas City. She retired from there in 2012.


Margaret shared her faith in God through conversations as well as lhelping others all throughout her life. She loved her family and her little dog, Mitzi. Her favorite days included time in activities with them. She was proud of her son, Mark, her granddaughter, Katie, and grandson, Kyle.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Ira O. McCutcheon; mother, Ceta E. McCutcheon; and brother, Richard Everett “Dick” McCutcheon. She is survived by her son, Mark, (Judy) Korb, Olathe, Kan.; granddaughter, Katie Korb, Olathe; grandson, Kyle (Cori) Korb, Gardner, Kan.; former husband, Tom Korb, Burr Oak and Merriam, Kan.; nieces, nephews, and many friends.


A service will be held at 11 a.m.,Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Burr Oak Church of the Nazarene. Inurnment will be in the Webber, Kan., cemetery.
