Volunteers contribute $55,000 to hospital

Nifty Thrifty made a generous donation of $55,000 to the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation in August of 2020. The Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation recently used these funds to purchase new surgical equipment for the hospital. This equipment will assist Brodstone in the continued expansion of their surgical department and will increase the availability of surgical procedures within the facility. The expansion will allow patients and community members the comfort and convenience of receiving their surgical care close to home.

Few items the volunteers sell in Superiorʼs Nifty-Thrifty shop cost more than a dollar or two and many of the items can be bought with a coin. but the sales add up. Members of the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in 2020 donated $55,000 to purchase surgical equipment for the hospital. On behalf of the volunteers, Lori Clyde is pictured passing the symbolic check to Treg Vyzourek, the hospitalʼs chief executive officer.

The Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and its volunteers operate Nifty Thrifty. Nifty Thrifty accepts donated items in good condition and sells them in a store located in downtown Superior. Funds raised by Nifty Thrifty are donated to the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation to assist in the purchase of new equipment for the hospital.

The Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation is a nonprofit organization that accepts financial gifts to enhance and expand healthcare programs and services at Brodstone. The foundation officially became a separate 501(c)3 organization in 2020. The foundation's sole purpose is to support, perform the function of, and to carry out the purposes of Brodstone Memorial Hospital.

"We are thankful to the auxiliary and foundation for the donation they made toward the purchase of new surgical equipment," said Treg Vyzourek, BMH CEO. "This has allowed us to expand our surgical services and will impact our communities and patients for years to come. Because of such generous donors and programs, we will be able to continue expanding our hospital service lines significantly."
