Emma Epley sets new school record in hurdles

New School record set by Emma Epley in Hurdles

A school record . . . above, Emma Epley is shown as she exceeds a 20 year old record in the 100 Meter Hurdles. She broke the records in the Twin Valley Conference Tournament last Saturday in Red Cloud.

Another Track Meet . . . another School Record . . .

As we mentioned last week, those records are made to be broken, and that is what Emma Epley did Saturday at the Twin Valley Conference Track Meet in Red Cloud.

Emma competes in both hurdle events, the long jump, and a relay event. She will compile a number of medals by the time this season is over, bringing home four gold medals in the 100M hurdles so far.

Saturday's gold medal has to be especially sweet coming at the Conference Meet, but also breaking a 20 year record for the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders. Emma set the record this year by running a time of 15.3 seconds. This time was about two seconds faster than an earlier time in the season.

The previous record belongs to Brenda Brockman with a time of 16.0 seconds, set in the year 2001.

Nine schools from the Twin Valley Conference met for the annual Conference Track Meet. The Raiders did not win either division but the girls finished second in their division and the boys finished third in their division.

Personal records have pretty much been a hallmark for the season for both the boys and girls. However they were not as plentiful for this meet.

Overall, individual performances are getting better from Meet to Meet. Team results and individual results are as follows.
