The Superior High School gymnasium was the venue for the 134th annual commencement of Superior High School. The 25 members of the Class of 2021 received their diplomas as family members and friends, limited to 10 invitees for each graduate, looked on. Seating was socially distanced.

The ceremony opened with the Superior High School Concert Band, under the direction of Allison White, middle and high school music instructor, played the traditional Trio from Sir Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstances March Number 1 as the processional.

The soon-to-be-graduates entered the gymnasium singly from the south and north sides at the rear of the gymnasium. They made there way to the seats reserved for them in the front row. After the class was in place, the band played the National Anthem.

Taran Zoltenko offered the Invocation.

Janison Majors spoke briefly about the upcoming ceremony.

Bob Cook, Superior Middle and High School principal announced the academic recognition honors. Graduates who earned cum laude honors (cumulative four-year GPA average 93 to 94 per cent) were Robert Brockhaus, Alexa Cox, Todd Keifer, Jackson Kuhlmann, Ezekiel Meyer and Taran Zoltenko. Those with magna cum laude honors (GPA average between 95 and 97 per cent) were Sierra Blackburn, Conner Blackstone, Kaylee Flaata, Tia Gonzales-Hunter and Morgan Theis. Those with summa cum laude honors (GPA average between 98 and 100 percent) were Aric J. Leibel and Jedd Whitmore. The Class of 2021 was awarded $877,323 in scholarships.

Kaylee Flaata, Tia Gonzales-Hunter and Raven Holland recapped the class journey from preschool through graduation from the female perspective. A. J. Leibel responded with his observations of the voyage.

Senior class members were provided carnations which they presented to those with a special place in their lives. The presentation was accompanied by the senior musical selection "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney.

Marty Kobza, superintendent of the Superior school system, presented the class to the board of education. He noted the class had met all the requirements for graduation.

Brad Biltoft, secretary of the board of education, and Jason Jensen, school board member, presented each graduate with their diploma after their name was read.

The recessional was the song "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove. The newly graduated class made their way to the back of the gymnasium as copious amounts of silver confetti filled the air.

The newly graduated class experienced the worst of the pandemic and made it through. They epitomized their class motto: "Together, we have experienced life. Separately, we will pursue our dreams. Forever our memories will remain."
