RHHS host NPL track meet

RHHS host league meet at Mankato

 


The Rock Hills High School boys and girls track teams hosted the Northern Plains League track meet at Mankato Thursday. The boys team finished in 10th place, with 22 points in the 14 team field. Other teams competing at the meet were St. John’s, Pike Valley, Osborne, Tescott, Lincoln, Lakeside, Thunder Ridge, Tipton Catholic, Sylvan-Lucas Unified, Natoma, Wilson, Southern Cloud and Chase. The girls team finished in fifth place in the 12 team field. Southern Cloud and Wilson did not field a girls team. The first six places in an event are awarded team points.

Jerrod Gillett, Seth Pennell and Wyatt Evert competed in the boys 100 meter dash.

Coe Nielson took part in the 200 meter dash.

Pennell took sixth place in the 400 meter dash with his time of 55.16 seconds. Nielson took part in the event.

Davin Coil and Kit Wagner entered the 800 and 1600 meter runs.

Buck Leudke and Evert competed in the shot put.

Caden Slate, Evert and Leudke participated in the discus throw.

Grant Meyers earned first place points in the pole vault when he cleared the bar at 12’.

Gillet nailed down first place in the long jump covering 21’2.75”. Pennell was in sixth place with his leap of 19’3”.

Coil entered the triple jump.

Grace Ayers finished second in the girls 100 meter dash with her time of 14.566 seconds. Austyn Groote held down fifth place with the time of 15.028 seconds. Avery Brown competed in the event.

Ayers was in sixth place in the 200 meter dash with her time of 30.678 seconds. Paige Zadina-Segura also competed.

Hannah Simmelink and Zadina entered the 400 meter dash.

 Simmelink competed in the 800 meter run.

Zadina entered the 1600 meter run.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Ayers, Groote, Lauren Whelchel and Simmelink secured the second place points with their time of 54.35 seconds.

Alyssa Davis and Brown competed in the shot put.

Davis and Groote participated in the discus throw.-

Whelchel took second place in the jump with a 4’10” jump. Raylnn Anderes was in fourth place with a bar clearing 4’2” jump.

Whelchel landed second place points in the pole vault with a height of 8’6”. Anderes was in fifth place at 6’6”.

Ayers took fourth place in the long jump with her distance of 13’9”. Brown and Simmelink also competed in the long jump.

Rock Hills will host the regional meet Friday at Mankato. Student athletes from Northern Valley, Rawlins County, St. John’s, Cheylin, Brewster, Lakeside, Glasco, Wheatland-Grinnell, Thunder Ridge, Lincoln, Logan, Natoma, Decatur Community, Osborne, Palco, Quinter, Golden Plains, Pike Valley, Wallace county, St. Francis, Stockton, Sylvan-Lucas Unified, Tescott, Tipton Catholic, Victoria, Weskan, Wilson and Triplains will compete for berths at the state meet. The state championship meet will be held at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium, Saturday, May 29.
