Buddy Poppy to be distributed Friday

Buddy Poppy distribution will be at Mankato Friday

The VFW Auxiliary, along with help from the FBLA students of Rock Hills, will be helping distribute Buddy Poppies in Mankato on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m.

In 1924, the VFW registered the name “Buddy” Poppy with the U.S. Patent Office. The “Buddy” Poppy represents the blood shed by American military service members and reminds us of their sacrifices. The “Buddy” Poppy is assembled by disabled and needy veterans in VA medical facilities. Proceeds from the VFW “Buddy” Poppy program, provides compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies; provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans; rehabilitation and service programs; and partially supports the VFW National Home for Children.

There is no charge for the “Buddy” Poppy during the distribution, but donations are strongly suggested and help many veterans in need. Remember all veterans who gave to keep us free this Memorial Day! Fly your flag and attend Memorial Services in your area.
