Rock Hills track at state meet Saturday

Three members of the Rock Hills High School boys and girls track and field teams qualified for events at the state 1-A meet held at Wichita State University’s Cessna Field Saturday. The top eight places in each event were awarded points.

Lauren Whelchel qualified in the pole vault and high jump for the girls team. She finished in ninth place in the pole vault and was in 11th place in the high jump.

Grant Meyers qualified in the pole vault for the boys team. He did not record a height for the event.

Jerrod Gillett represented the Grizzlies in the long jump where he recorded a 10th place finish.

Whelchel and Meyers will have more opportunities in the future to participate at state meets as they are both sophomores. For Gillett, it was his final appearance in a Grizzlies uniform as he is a 2021 graduate.
