Superior Municipal Swimming Pool opens

The Superior Municipal Swimming Pool opened for the season Monday. Bev Czirr, pool manager, will utilize nine Red Cross certified lifeguards to oversee the safety of pool patrons. Seth Going serves as the assistant manager.

The pool required more preseason preparation and maintenance than usual. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pool was not open last season. The Superior Parks Department used a four inch fire hose to expedite filling the pool afte a needed pump repair was completed. The warming blankets were then placed on the water surface to allow the water to warm.

There are some new additions for patrons this season. Anonymous donors provided two basketball goals which can be converted to use as volleyball nets. New LED lights have been installed on the stanchions for night use.

The pool is open seven days a week, weather permitting. Lap swimming is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open swimming is from 1 to 5 p.m. Adult swim is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tierney Casper will also direct water aerobics during this time. She will also teach swim classes and offer private lessons by appointment. Open swim returns from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The phone number for the pool is 402-879-1745.
